Technical issues are frustrating in any game, and Counter-Strike goes through its fair share of them. You’ll often be instructed that if you verify the game cache of CS:GO then this will fix your issue. This can be difficult, though, if you’re unsure how to verify the game cache, so this guide will walk you through the simple steps to do this and hopefully resolve whatever issue you’re having with CS:GO game files.
Verifying the integrity of your game files can fix errors that have been caused by settings being changed and is one of the first things you should do to try and fix CS:GO problems.
How to verify integrity of CS:GO’s game cache files through Steam
Something that can throw people when being told to verify CS:GO files is that the option to do this isn’t actually in the game client. You’ll need to be on Steam to do this.
First, go onto your game library on Steam (you get here by clicking on the menu for “Games” at the top left of Steam). Now right click on CS:GO and you’ll see a drop down menu like the one pictured below. From here, click on properties at the bottom to take yourself to the screen that’ll let you verify the game cache integrity.
Once you’ve opened up properties, use the menu at the top to get to “Local Files”. Now you’ll see an option to Verify Integrity of Game Files. Simply click this and Steam will begin verifying CS:GO’s files.
Hopefully now you know how to verify cache this will fix any launch issues or in-game problems you’ve been facing.
