How to Change CS2 Bot Difficulty

Finding your offline games too easy?

In Counter-Strike 2, bots can be useful to play with or against, especially when you can't quite find enough players for your private matches. However, to better balance your teams, it can often be beneficial to change your bot's difficulty level depending on the skill level of your teammates (or if you simply want a easier/harder game). There are currently 5 different bot levels, with all of them changing bots' aim, movement and overall ability.

1. Enable and Open the Developer Console

Skip this step if you've enabled the developer console before.

Head to your CS2 settings, click Game, then select Yes on the Enable Developer Console dropdown.

You can open the console after enabling it with the ` (grave) and ~ (tilde) keys.

If you need more detailed help, check out our CS2 console guide.

2. Use the bot_difficulty Command

To change the bot difficulty, you'll need to type the following command into the console, replacing NUMBER with the difficulty level you want the bots set at:

bot_difficulty NUMBER

For example, typing the command bot_difficulty 1 will set the bot difficult to level 1.

These are the 5 current difficulty levels:

  • 1 - Bots do not engage with combat
  • 2 - Easy difficulty (default)
  • 3 - Normal difficulty
  • 4 - Hard difficulty
  • 5 - Expert difficulty
