The Rarest and Most Expensive CS:GO Skins

Redefining the meaning of the word expensive.

There are over 1,000 skins in CS:GO, with prices ranging from pennies to thousands of dollars. You read that right: thousands of dollars.

So why do some skins end up costing so much, and some so little? Well, unfortunately, there's not a simple answer to that. Usually it's a multitude of factors, but it usually comes down to rarity and looks. Luckily for you, we've done a lot of research and have uncovered not only the rarest CS:GO skins, but also the most expensive CS:GO skins that are out there in the world today.

1 . Souvenir SSG 08 | Detour (Factory New)

Souvenir SSG 08 | Detour (Factory New)

Alright, alright, so this scout isn't actually called Olofpass, it's called the Souvenir SSG 08 Detour - but hear us out here as there's an interesting story behind the name Olofpass! Those who have followed the Counter-Strike competitive scene may know that during the DreamHack Winter 2014 Quarter Finals Fnatic unveiled a never-seen-before three person boost. This boost allowed the Fnatic player Olofmeister to boost up into a high position and kill the unaware enemy team who were in Sewers with a scout. Fnatic were losing 3-13 when they first used this boost, and after making that score 4-13, they didn't lose another round - going on to win the game 16-13 with a very impressive comeback. So where does this skin come into play? This skin was dropped at the end of the game to some very lucky spectators. It is differentiated from the regular SSG 08 Detours by its unique stickers. As the game was so iconic, and sparked many debates about whether the boost was fair or legal, many players want to get their hands on this literal souvenir from a historic game.

2 . StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl (Factory New)

StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl (Factory New)

If you aren't aware of the M4A4 Howl, you're either new to the game, or haven't been paying attention to the skin scene. Like some other skins in this list, the M4A4 Howl has an interesting story. This skin was originally submitted to the community workshop as art, and accepted by Valve as a skin design. Unknown to Valve, the original M4A4 Howl's wolf imagery that the submitter claimed was "inspired by his dog" was actually a little too inspired by the work of an artist from DeviantArt. When the artist realized that his work (the wolf) was being used commercially in Counter-Strike, he submitted a DMCA (copyright notice) to Valve. Valve had no choice at this point but to do one of two things: remove the skin, or redesign it. They actually opted for both, kind of. They removed the skin from cases and existing skins received a new skin design that was similar, but didn't use any copyrighted artwork. The aftermath was a skin with an interesting story, and no way to obtain it (other than via trade). The novelty and rarity of this skin have consistently pushed up prices, with them now reaching multiple thousands for StatTrak Howls in Factory New condition.

3 . Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore (Factory New)

The Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore is one of the, if not the, most iconic and rare skins of all time - up there with the likes of the M4A4 Howl. So what makes the rarity and price of a non-contraband item like the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore similar to that of the M4A4 Howl? Well, when it comes to the Souvenir Dragon Lore, it's because was only one way to get it. You read that right, was. As of currently, unless you buy the case it can be unboxed from, you're not going to have any chance of getting it. The case that the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore is found within is the Cobblestone case. Cobblestone cases were dropped to spectators of pro games on Cobblestone when it was in the active map pool. As you might've guessed, when opening a Cobblestone case, there is a small chance that you'll receive a Factory New Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore. Because Cobblestone was removed from the Active Map Pool (the maps that pro players play), it's no longer possible to get a Cobblestone case drop, making the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore even more rare. If you want to make every CS:GO player jealous, this is the skin you want.

4 . Souvenir Dual Berettas | Cobalt Quartz (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir Dual Berettas | Cobalt Quartz (Factory New)

The Souvenir Cobalt Quartz Dual Berettas in Factory New might not look like anything special, but they're very rare. They were added to the game as a commemoration of the 2014 EMS One Katowice CS:GO Championship, and cases containing these were only dropped during the final match between Virtus Pro and NiP. Because there haven't been any new ways to obtain these skins, there are a very limited amount in the game. As you might've guessed, their rarity causes a big increase in price. These dualies in non-Souvenir will cost you about 20 cents. In Souvenir, however? Over 200 dollars.

5 . Souvenir Tec-9 | Nuclear Threat (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir Tec-9 | Nuclear Threat (Factory New)

The Souvenir Tec-9 Nuclear Threat can only be unboxed from Souvenir packages that are dropped to spectators of pro games on Nuke. As Nuke tends to be played a lot less than other maps in the Active Duty Map Pool, and due to the Tec-9 Nuclear Threat in any condition being one of the rarest skins in the Nuke Souvenir Package - Souvenir Nuclear Threat skins are rare regardless of their condition. So what makes Factory New even more rare? The Tec-9 Nuclear Threat has a minimum float value of 0.06 and a maximum of 0.8. In order for an unboxed skin to be Factory New, it has to have a float value below 0.07. So, after getting lucky and landing a Souvenir Tec-9 Nuclear Threat, you have a chance of around 1.35% of it being Factory New. At the time of writing this, the Nuke Collection isn't even dropped - this means it's only possible to get this skin via trade ups (excluding trading).

6 . Souvenir P250 | Nuclear Threat (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir P250 | Nuclear Threat (Factory New)

The reason for the Souvenir P250 Nuclear Threat in Factory New being so rare is the exact same as that of the Souvenir Tec-9 Nuclear Threat in Factory New (read above). Its minimum float value is 0.06, meaning even after getting lucky and unboxing a Souvenir Tec-9 Nuclear Threat, you have a 1.35% chance of getting this gun in Factory new. Because these are so rare, it's hard to find an accurate price, but this will definitely cost you more than a few hundred.

7 . Glock-18 | Fade (Factory New)

View Skin
Glock-18 | Fade (Factory New)

This is arguably one of, if not the, best Glock skin you can get. With most fancy skins you can get a lower conditioned skin for at least half the price - not with the Glock-18 Fade, this skin only comes in Factory New and Minimal Wear condition. So what makes it so rare? Well, that comes down to the fact it's only dropped from The Assault Collection, which hasn't been in circulation since 2014. You can only get it via (very expensive) trade ups now.

8 . StatTrak™ USP-S | Kill Confirmed (Factory New)

View Skin
StatTrak™ USP-S | Kill Confirmed (Factory New)

Coming in at over $500, this is the most expensive USP-S in CS:GO that you can get your hands on. Unlike some other skins, you can still unbox the StatTrak USP-S Kill Confirmed, it's just insanely rare. If you want to try our luck, you can find it in the Shadow Case.

9 . StatTrak™ AK-47 | Fire Serpent (Factory New)

View Skin
StatTrak™ AK-47 | Fire Serpent (Factory New)

It's so rare, we've struggled to find an accurate price for this beast of a skin.. we'd estimate something over $2,000 USD (you read that right). Getting this in your inventory costs as much as three consecutive return flights from London to New York - not cheap! The case that this gun is unboxed from is no longer obtainable by any means other than trade, leading to the case costing upwards of $15 to buy it from the Steam market. Given that this gun is Covert rarity, Factory New, and StatTrak, anyone looking to unbox this is going to have to spend a lot of money.

10 . AUG | Akihabara Accept (Factory New)

View Skin
AUG | Akihabara Accept (Factory New)

As one of the coolest AUG skins money can buy, the Akihabara Accept is long sought after by everyone, but anime fans in particular, given its anime magazine cover print. This skin was added to the game in the Rising Sun Collection, which came along with the Bloodhound Operation update. When the Operation ended, the Rising Sun Collection did too, meaning the AUG Akihabara Accept became something you could only get from trading with players and trade ups.

11 . Souvenir AWP | Pink DDPAT (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir AWP | Pink DDPAT (Factory New)

You're probably thinking "Wait a minute, I've seen this skin loads of times before in-game, it isn't rare". Well, maybe not, but if you were, then you're correct.. kind of. The AWP Pink DDPAT in non-Souvenir trim costs as little as $10 in Battle Scarred condition. To obtain the Souvenir trim however, you're going to need to come up with over $700 dollars (maybe even over a thousand). In Souvenir, it's only dropped during pro (Major) games on Overpass, making the Factory New condition very expensive.

12 . Souvenir M4A1-S | Knight (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir M4A1-S | Knight (Factory New)

At the time of writing this, there are only five Souvenir M4A1-S Knight's for sale on the Steam market, and they're not cheap. It's a dark, sleek weapon that pictures really don't do justice - we recommend checking it out in-game. The reason for this gun being so expensive is the same as the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore, it is only obtained as a drop when spectating pro Major games on Cobblestone. Given that Cobblestone is no longer in the Active Duty map pool for pros to play, it's not even possible to get it as a drop anymore!

13 . M4A4 | Poseidon (Factory New)

View Skin
M4A4 | Poseidon (Factory New)

Non-Souvenir weapons tend to be cheap in comparison to other Souvenir skins. There are exceptions to this rule though, and the M4A4 Poseidon is one of them, costing over $400. Given its name and design, it should come as no surprise that the collection this weapon came from was named the "Gods and Monsters Collection", which was only available during the time period that Operation Bloodhound was active. As it's no longer available, skins exclusive to this collection are getting more rare and expensive by the day.

14 . Desert Eagle | Blaze (Factory New)

View Skin
Desert Eagle | Blaze (Factory New)

It's crazy to think that compared to most of the skins in this article, the $200 price tag on this gun seems quite small. Even if it isn't close to the most expensive skin you can get in general, it's definitely pricey for a Desert Eagle skin. With such epic looks, this gun doesn't even need to be rare to be expensive, because we think everyone could do with some Blaze in their loadout.

15 . Souvenir SG 553 | Integrale (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir SG 553 | Integrale (Factory New)

We couldn't actually get a recent price on this masterpiece, but it's probably going to cost you upwards of $500 (and that's not a generous price, it could be more than double that). The extravagant looks of the SG 553 Integrale, paired with the fact the Souvenir trim is only dropped to spectators of pro (Major) games on the Inferno map makes it both a rare and pricey addition to any inventory.

16 . MP7 | Whiteout (Factory New)

View Skin
MP7 | Whiteout (Factory New)

With a minimum float value of 0.06, the MP7 Whiteout isn't easy to get in Factory New condition. In fact, even after the odds of trading up or unboxing an MP7 Whiteout, you've got a less than 2% chance of it being Factory New condition.

17 . StatTrak™ P90 | Emerald Dragon (Factory New)

View Skin
StatTrak™ P90 | Emerald Dragon (Factory New)

Rush B on Dust II in style with this $1,000 P90. Like the StatTrak AK-47 Fire Serpent we featured earlier in this article, the P90 Emerald Dragon is in the discontinued Bravo Case, which costs over $15 to get your hands on now. The funny thing is this isn't even the most expensive P90 you can get your hands on, the P90 Death by Kitting holds that title.

18 . Souvenir MAG-7 | Bulldozer (Factory New)

View Skin
Souvenir MAG-7 | Bulldozer (Factory New)

Some say it looks absolutely hideous, but we think it stands out, similar to how a bright yellow Lamborghini would. Like some other skins in this article, the reason this Souvenir edition weapon is so expensive is simply because of its rarity. You need to get a Souvenir package drop from spectating a pro (Major) game on Mirage, then you need to unbox a Souvenir MAG-7 Bulldozer, and then, even after getting lucky with those two, you have a less than 2% chance of your unboxed MAG-7 being Factory New condition.
